We invite you on a unique Arctic adventure aboard the MS Nordstjernen, featuring expedition guides and Zodiac landings, to some of Spitsbergen's and Svalbard's most spectacular, and remote, sights and scenery. During this outstanding Arctic cruise you will enjoy historical mining towns such as Ny-Alesund and Barentsburg. Trawl Norway's northernmost fjords. Bird-spot and whale watch. Reach the 80° parallel. Make Zodiac landings at stunning sights such as the Monaco glacier. This Arctic adventure could just be the unique cruise you've been longing for.

Your Arctic Adventure Cruise Itinerary:


Day 1: Depart the U.S.
Depart the U.S. on Monday or Friday for your transatlantic flights to Oslo.

Day 2: Oslo
Transfer from the airport to downtown Oslo. Explore the city's many sites, such as the Munch Museum.

Day 3: Oslo-Longyearbyen
Monday departures will transfer to the airport after breakfast for your flight to Longyearbyen with dinner and overnight at the Spitsbergen Hotel. Friday departures will enjoy a day at leisure and then take an evening flight to Longyearbyen, arriving shortly after midnight. [B]

Day 4: Longyearbyen Embarkation-Barentsburg- Prins Karls Forland
Monday departures will enjoy a tour of Longyearbyen, then embark on the MS Nordstjernen in early evening. Friday departures will begin their Arctic cruise around noon. All departures will experience Spitsbergen, the "land of jagged peaks." This portion of your Arctic adventure includes days filled with sightings of Arctic flora, eagles, puffins, seals, whales, even polar bears. On the way out of the Isfjord, you'll call at Barentsburg, a Russian mining community, and then continue northward along the breathtaking northern shores of Prins Karls Forland island. [B/L/D]

Day 5: Magdalenefjord
Monday departures will enjoy a morning arrival in the breathtaking Magdalenefjord. Thousands of rare auks can be found here, and whales can be spotted. Cruise farther north in the afternoon, making landings using the fleet of PolarCirkel boats. Friday departures, weather permitting will sail to the Woodfjord area. In the Liefdefjord, you'll experience the awe-inspiring Monaco glacier via Zodiac boat. Depending on ice conditions, you'll cross the 80° parallel and reach Moffen Island. Continue south into the stunning Smeerenburgfjord and Magdalenefjord. [B/L/D]

Day 6: Fjords-Glaciers
Monday departures will be in for a sail to the Woodfjord, weather permitting. In the Liefdefjord, you will experience the awe-inspiring Monaco glacier via Zodiac boat. Depending on ice conditions, you'll cross the 80° parallel and reach the remote Moffen Island, a sanctuary for walruses. Friday departures will travel south, making various landings by Zodiac boat. In the evening, you'll reach the research center of Ny-Alesund, the northernmost settlement in the world. During the night, proceed along the coast of Prins Karls Forland to Longyearbyen. [B/L/D]

Day 7: Longyearbyen-Disembarkation
Monday departures will visit Ny-Alesund and Blomstrandhamna, before continuing south along Prins Karls Forland, returning to Longyearbyen after midnight to spend the night on board. Friday departures arrive in the morning at Longyearbyen and take a guided city tour, including a visit to the Svalbard Museum, which features natural history exhibits about Arctic life. Transfer to the Spitsbergen Hotel and enjoy a light lunch. Afternoon free. Farewell dinner at the hotel. [B/L/D]

Day 8: Depart Longyearbyen-Oslo
Transfer to the airport for your return flight to Oslo. Overnight in Oslo. [B]

Day 9: Return to the U.S.
Transfer to the airport for your return flight to the U.S.

PLEASE NOTE: Monday departures have a Welcome Dinner at the beginning of the cruise in Longyearbyen instead of a Farewell Dinner and a 3 a.m. departure time on day eight from Longyearbyen to Oslo. Itineraries are subject to change due to weather and ice conditions, and may differ from one departure to another.
