Get ready for an adventure of a life time. This 22 day Antarctica, South Georgia Island and Falklands tour and cruise will immerse you in history, culture and some of the world's most amazing sea and wildlife. Your expedition begins in Argentina with a day to explore. Then its on to Ushuaia where your Antarctica cruise begins. Go through the Drake Passage and emerge in Antarctica where the activities, landings and views will leave you breathless.

Your 22 Antarctica Cruse Itinerary Includes:


Day 1: Depart the U.S.
Leave on your overnight flight for Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Day 2: Buenos Aires
You will arrive in Buenos Aires in the morning and transfer to your hotel, where you will have the rest of the day at leisure to explore. [B/D]

Day 3: Buenos Aires - Ushuaia
After breakfast you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Ushuaia. Upon arrival in Ushuaia you will take a short orientation tour before you transfer to the MS Fram to begin your Antarctica cruise. [L/D]

Day 4-5: Drake Passage
The Drake Passage connects the southern Atlantic and Pacific oceans. While we cross the sea to Antarctica a number of presentations will be given about various topics of the Antarctic's history and wildlife. [B/D]

Days 5-8: Antarctica
The ship will negotiate the narrow passage between Booth Island and the Antarctic Peninsula. [B/L/D]

You'll board PolarCirkel boats and-depending upon the weather-make a number of landings including:
  • Whaler's Bay with its warm springs and black volcanic sand.
  • Half Moon Island is a rookery for Chinstrap penguins, and home to Kelp gulls, terns, skuas and sheathbills.
  • Yankee Harbor, home to seals and some 4,000 Gentoo penguin pairs.
  • Almirante Brown in Paradise Harbor has views of snowy peaks, ice cliffs, and sculpted bergs.
  • Port Lockroy. At this British base, postcards postmarked "Antarctica" can be purchased.
  • Neko Harbor's water has a fine mirror finish, flecked with bits of berg.
  • Petermann Island, inhabited by the southernmost colony of Gentoo penguins.
  • Cuverville Island boasts the largest known colony of Gentoo penguins in the Antarctic Peninsula.
  • Wilhelmina Bay, a feeding ground for whales and seals.
  • Antarctic Sound where huge mile-long tabular icebergs can be seen.
  • Brown Bluff where Weddell seals are regular visitors.

Day 9-10: Drake Passage and Scotia Sea
While on board there will be a number of presentations about the area and its wildlife, as well as some fascinating stories about Shackleton's expeditions. [B/L/D]

Day 11-12: South Georgia
Disembark at the abandoned whaling station Grytviken. Wander through the town and visit the South Georgia Museum. At the cemetery, you are likely to spy young elephant seal pups, King and Gentoo penguins, and timid Pintail ducks. You'll also visit Cooper Bay, known for its Macaroni and Chinstrap penguins. Days 13-14: At Sea
While at sea, you'll be offered on-board lectures with interesting and educational South Georgia insights. [B/L/D]

Days 15-16: Falklands - Malvinas
These islands have a unique ecosystem of about 70 different animal and bird species. The black-browed albatross, brown-rumped caracara, elephant seal, sea long and five different species of penguin including king penguins. You will visit Stanley, the islands' capital, which makes a wonderful starting point for various excursions in the area. You can choose to take an optional excursion or explore the town on your own. From Stanley you will continue on to New Island and West Point Island with their fascinating landscape and wildlife. Optional excursions are also available. [B/L/D]

Days 17-19: At Sea
During the cruise to Buenos Aires our lectures will wrap up your amazing journey. Enjoy an on-board academic program. [B/L/D]

Day 20: Disembarkation-Buenos Aires
You'll disembark at Buenos Aires. Optional excursions are available. [B]

Day 21: Buenos Aires Departure
After breakfast, transfer for your flight to the U.S. [B]

Day 22: Arrive in the U.S.
You will arrive in the U.S. early morning.
