Flight to Calama (CJC)

Reception at Calama airport and transfer to San Pedro de Atacama (95 Km.). On our way to the small desert village San Pedro de Atacama, we will able to see the amazing salt mountain range.

Excursion: Valle de la Luna / Moon Valley
Just 8 km from San Pedro de Atacama, we find a stunning landscape abounding in shapes and colors, where we can stroll through a great geological spectacle that has been repeatedly compared with the surface of the moon, with its angular geology and rocks sculpted by erosion. We will visit the salt mine before climbing up the highest sand dune where we will enjoy the sunset over the Andes. Return to San Pedro de Atacama approximately 20:00 hrs.

Accommodation at the Hotel Kimal or similar.

Depart early in the morning from your hotel (4:00 hrs. approx.) to the Tatio Geysers located 98 kms. And 4,300 meters above the sea level.

Upon arrival to the Geysers area you will enjoy a picnic style breakfast (07:00 hrs. approx.). Then you will walk through the geothermal field to see the geysers and pools of boiling water and mud. Afterwards, we will move to the hot springs area for a rejuvenating bath in the 40°C hot water before returning to San Pedro. On the way back, we will see the Licancabur and Sairecabur volcanoes. Arrival at San Pedro around midnight.

Excursion: Archaeological tour of San Pedro de Atacama
This tour will gives you the opportunity to explore the picturesque village located at the shores of the most important river (Río Grande) that feeds the Atacama salt lake. San Pedro de Atacama is considered to be the center. An increasing numbers of tourists flock each year to this small town from around the globe. The archeological museum, named after its founder, Priest Gustavo Le Paige, features collections of gold figures found by the priest and objects of great beauty selected from over 380,000 archeological pieces.

Visit to the Pukara de Quitor, a 12th Century (pre-Inca) fortress. Quitor is strategically located and was easily defended from all sides, until the Spanish took over with a horse-driven invasion. Partially restored in 1992, Pukara de Quitor is one of the most complete and impressive fortresses. Crossing the “Ayllos” or community farming areas, we arrive at Tulor, where the first settlements took place. This settlement - known as “Aldea de Tulor” – is over 2,000 years old and consists of circular dwellings that are interconnected with common passages and patios.
