"THE NAVEL OF THE WORLD – EASTER ISLAND"
SEASON 2008/2009
PRE PROGRAM 6D/5N
The Island lies in the midst of the Pacific Ocean and is located 1 thousand feet from the Chilean coast. It is called the 'navel of the world' due to the geographical position. Easter Island has a population of 4,000, most of who are Polynesian origin, and its name comes from the fact that it was discovered on Easter Sunday in 1722. The history of this Island remains a mystery to the modern world, many legends have been forged around it, and its Moai sculptures give it a unique flair. Easter Island is a truly mystical destination.
